Our Tenets

What Drives Us

We all live by tenets whether we recognize and name them or not. At Hekima for the Future, our tenets guide our present actions to enable us to make our desired future a reality - they are therefore ever-expanding as we continue to grow. Below are the tenets the we strive to abide by:

  1. Land acknowledgement is a requirement.

  2. One cannot rely on a system not intended to support their community

  3. Freedom from oppression cannot occur without food independence.

  4. The exchange of knowledge must be freely available and desegmented.

  5. One must never assume that having been oppressed makes them exempt from the need for constant self-examination.

  6. We must always be honest with ourselves and the possibility that we have and/or could inflict harm on others. Without fully acknowledging our ability to do harm, we cannot fully grasp just how much positivity we are capable of.

  7. Production = Independence

  8. Seeds = Currency
